Hmm, no he didn't. In some hollywood versions of the story yes he does. But if you read the real story, what happens is that Lancelot is such an incredible, virtous, powerful, honorable, loyal, loving, master fencing, and strong knight that the other knights of the round table were overwhelmed with jealousy that they framed Lancelot by luring him to Guinevere's bedroom claiming that she needed his assistance. Once he entered the room they locked him in and the bad kinghts ran off to tell others that Sir Lancelot was bedding King Author's wife. They thus came running and battered the door down and attempted to kill Lancelot. Guinenvere let him escape though the window or somthing like that because she knew that he wasn't trying to bed her in the first place. But King Author came to beleive his bad knights instead and tried to kill Guinenvere for Adultery. So she ran to Sir Lancelot's castle where he vowed to protect her for her innocence.
